Are there any alternative ways to charge a ps3 controller without the ps3 being on?

I think it’s a waste of electricity to turn on the ps3 just to charge the controller. Are there any other ways of charging it? I also heard you can charge a ps3 controller by using the usb ports of the wii. Is this true?
charge the controller using usb from ur pc
ya pretty much anything with a usb port. computer, laptop, etc. i am pretty sure you can actually charge a ps3 controller on an xbox 360 lol. i have no proof but i don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

By “storing” your controllers here, you always have a set of fully charged controller ready to go. And you don’t have to futz or tangle with another cable among your gaming gear, the controllers connect directly to the charging base.

a wii WON’T charge a ps3 controller ( I’ve tried ) and most computers won’t either . even those that do are putting out 2/3 the power a ps3 usb port does so it will fail prematurely .
ps3 controllers need a specific amperage range to properly charge – either buy a usb extension cable and play while charging , charge while watching a movie or playing music on the ps3 or buy a second controller so one is charging while you play with the other
or buy an official ps3 charge base or usb charger that you plug into the wall . they’re only about $20 .
charging docks are great!I have one charge the controllers every night, never runs out of battery. You can plug it into your pc via usb but that means your pc will have to be on. So a charging dock would be the best idea
