I’m getting a new ps3 and have a lot of pictures on my current ps3. I have tried copying a folder of pix i don’t care about to a flash drive to use them as a test. But when I copy them back onto the ps3, they go into the July 2010 folder, not their original 2008 folder.

Your probably going to get the slim version well in that case I would do the ethernet transfer method which is the simplest & easiest, and it is made so that people can transfer all there stuff on the new ps3. Now you can do the usb method but it takes abit time.
So in order to do the ethernet way you need a standard ethernet cable NOT crossover which you should naturally need. And you connect your old ps3 directly (no router needed) with new ps3 and you go to the backup tab in the menu, and the rest should be easy. But remember that once the information is copied on your new ps3, everything is deleted on your old ps3 its to prevent piracy.
All i know is just to copy them on to a psp or a flash drive. and why would you care about what file they are in?
