my ps3 keeps saying error code 80010005 what does that mean?

im trying to play madden 07 and it just asked me this whats mean…did i harm my ps3. i tryed my other games and it asked me this also. can somebody please help me
it means return it and get a xbox 360
I think it means… Time For A 360!
I google searched this and found a forum where someone was talkilng about this particular error. Here is what they had to say:

I’ve called Sony today and they only said that it was and I quote “MEDIA READ ERROR” and I’d have to send my
ps3 in and they would replace it. He was very kind and tried to be helpful but I don’t think they really know what
is going on because I believe this is a software issue not a hardware problem and sending in my unit only to get
a new one back that has to be updated with 1.50 probably will have the same result as the one I currently have.
If I leave a game inside the ps3 when I boot up it sometimes gives me this error, also demos do not work either. Nothing
helps unless I power off from the rear when it is in standby and sometimes that even takes a few tries. Not a viable solution.
If you don’t leave a disc in the ps3 when you boot up so far it works and doesn’t give you an error. Then you can play the
demos or put in a disc and it reads fine… (so far.. more testing by myself and you guys with this problem please)
Maybe if we can get Sony’s attention on this matter, I don’t see a need in sending your unit to them only to get it back
and maybe have the same problem. Maybe they will look into this more and figure out it is software related.. no doubt
something to do with the firmware updates. We lose if we send it in and Sony loses too.
These are my thoughts and in no way am I claiming I know for sure what the problem is, I’m just posting my thoughts.
I don’t really want to be without my ps3 if I don’t have to. =)
hi i have a ps3 and sometimes it does that. It has only happened to me if i try to go online. Maybe theres somthing wrong with your network. And just to tell the other who ansered this question the XBOX 360 SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
The Wii sucks, the PS3 is the best, trust me. It’s capabilities far surpass the Wii’s. I’ve never had that happen before, it might be a problem with the game. Have you ever played the games before, if you have I don’t know, if you haven’t then the PS3′s Blu-Ray reading laser maybe defective. First, email Sony and ask about it, make sure to include the code:

Your connection to your router probably got lost try unplugging it and plugging it back in if that does not work then check your modem. I have got this error b4 too its rly nothing serious.
eventhough ps3 is a lot brand new, ps2 still rocks!! as they say, not everyhthing that shines are gold inside and out.
ok i experianced the same problem. and no its not broken. all you have to do is take out the game then turn off your ps3 and turn it back on. then try it and it will work.

It means go buy a Wii. Afterall Sony has Nintendo to thank for their initial success AND their current downfall. Sorry Sony, you guys just went from good to SUCK in one quick instant.

Dont listen to these other goofs, I had a 360 and it was the most dissappointing system I have ever purchased. Oh and Madden sucks for both systems get the PS2 version…much much better. Anyway the problem seems to be a Firmware issue which I believe sony is working on updating…My PS3 is doing the same thing from time to time..it has never recovered from the problem on its own I always have to restart the system in order for the game to work…which leads me to believe its a software issue and not a hardware issue.
