Can i play games such as COD and Madden online through a wired connection on the Wii?

I do not have a wireless router, so i went out and bought a lan adapter for the Wii. But it cannot connect to the internet for any of my games. Am i doing something wrong, or is it because wired connections do not work?
Yes, you can play cod and madden through a wired connection. A wired connection is very fast.
Here is how you set up a wired connection for wii
What you will need:
- internet connection
- lan adapter
- ethernet cable
- modem
How to set it all up
1. Plug one end of the ethernet cable into the lan adapter
2. Plug the usb end of the lan adapter to the back of the wii
3. Plug the other end of the ethernet cable into your modem
4. Go to wii settings, select internet, and select wired connection
Your wii should be connected to the internet
*If you have a faster and better ethernet cable, online gaming will be very very fast.
